Newly revised edition of the original Harvard Museum issue, with new preface and updated bibliography. Schaafsma has skillfully organized the data from the Donald Scott Collection of rock art photographs and notes to present a broad overview of Utah rock art, placed within a cultural-chronological framework. Much of the data was collected during the 1920s-1930s. The author breaks down the study by geo-cultural divisions, providing comparative stylistic descriptions of single sites and locales. Schaafsma places the different culturally affiliated styles in a chronological framework, but makes no attempt to interpret their meaning.
